Dr. Philip J. Chandler is a board certified, fellowship trained spine surgeon specializing in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery in Springfield, MA. With expertise caring for conditions such as disk herniations, instability, fractures, tumors, scoliosis, and spinal stenosis, Dr. Chandler provides comprehensive care to his patients. He also prioritizes non-surgical treatments for patients who do not require surgery, including medications, physical therapy, bracing, injections, and alternative medical treatments. Dr. Chandler is dedicated to providing his patients with personalized care and the best possible outcomes.

Dr. Chandler has unique experience in Orthopaedic Surgery due in part to his military career. Dr. Chandler served as the sole Orthopaedic surgeon at Fort Irwin, California, the home of the US Army's National Training Center. After this duty station, he was reassigned to work at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Fort Campbell, Kentucky as an orthopaedic surgeon for the 5th Special Forces Group, 160th SOAR, and 101st Airborne Division. In addition to his practice, Dr. Chandler was recognized and personally requested to be the orthopaedic surgeon to the infamous 160th SOAR, also known as the Nightstalkers. He has had multiple deployments across the globe.
Dr. Chandler draws on his unique experience entering the military at age 18 and joining the United States Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of Sergeant. Dr. Chandler joined the U.S. Army just prior to entering medical school.

Dr. Chandler is able to connect with his patients on a personal level through his own experience with injuries, being an athlete and avid weightlifter himself. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time lifting weights, time outdoors, and at home with his wife and children.
